Quick answer: GTA VI has two playable leads: Jason Duval, an ex-Army man working for drug runners in the Leonida Keys, and Lucia Caminos, who has just got out of prison and wants a better life. Rockstar has also introduced a supporting cast including Cal Hampton, Brian Heder, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, Real Dimez and Raul Bautista. This guide covers only what Rockstar has shown, with no fan theories presented as fact.
Jason Duval
- Background: grew up around grifters and criminals and had a troubled youth.
- Army: served in the Army, then moved to the Leonida Keys.
- Today: works for local drug runners.
- Living situation: veteran drug runner Brian Heder lets him live rent-free in exchange for help with “shakedowns”.
- What drives him: by Rockstar’s framing, he wants an easier life but keeps getting pulled back into crime.
Lucia Caminos
- Background: her father taught her to fight from a young age. Her family once lived in Liberty City, the GTA version of New York.
- Prison: she was sent to Leonida Penitentiary after fighting for her family.
- Release: she got out through what Rockstar calls sheer luck.
- What drives her: she wants a better life and believes careful planning will get her there.
- From the trailers: the launch trailer shows her wearing an ankle monitor, suggesting she is on parole.
- Series first: she is the first female lead in a mainline GTA game since the series went 3D.
Jason and Lucia together
The two are partners in love and crime. Trailers show them planning heists, robbing stores and banks, and escaping police together. Rockstar has confirmed that relationships can affect the story, and some side activities work as dates the pair can go on, such as mini golf or kayaking.
