GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and PC players are once again left waiting. Rockstar hasn’t announced a GTA 6 PC release, but Take-Two’s CEO keeps hinting that one is coming. Here’s what’s actually been said, what Rockstar’s history suggests, and what PC gamers can do in the meantime.
Quick answer: There is no confirmed GTA 6 PC release date. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in September 2026 that “the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time,” but stopped short of confirming GTA 6 for PC. Based on Rockstar’s history, a PC version usually arrives 12–19 months after console, which would point to late 2027 or 2028. That’s an estimate, not an announcement.
What Take-Two has said about a GTA 6 PC release
At a short investor meeting on September 17, 2026, a shareholder asked about PC timing. According to GamesRadar+, Zelnick replied that Take-Two aims “to launch for any platforms for which there’s a meaningful audience,” and that “the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time.” He added that “if platforms were no longer viable, we could change that strategy.”
That isn’t a confirmation, but it’s hard to read as anything other than “not yet.” Zelnick has also said GTA 6 is launching on consoles first to focus on that audience, and he has denied that the console launch is tied to an exclusivity deal.
How long Rockstar usually takes to bring games to PC
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Wait |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA IV | April 2008 | December 2008 | About 8 months |
| GTA V | September 2013 | April 2015 | About 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | About 13 months |
| GTA 6 | November 2026 | Not announced | ? |
If GTA 6 follows the RDR2 or GTA V pattern, PC players could be looking at late 2027 to mid-2028. Rockstar has often used the extra time to add PC features such as higher frame rates, ultrawide support and better graphics options.
Why Rockstar launches on console first
There are a few likely reasons, though Rockstar hasn’t spelled them out:
- Focus: two console families are far easier to test and optimise than thousands of PC hardware combinations.
- Piracy and cheating: a delay protects launch sales and the online side.
- A second launch: GTA V sold strongly again on PC, giving Take-Two another big sales moment.
GTA 6 is also very demanding. Even on consoles it targets 30fps, as we explained in our GTA 6 30fps post. A PC version would let high-end hardware push beyond that.
Watch out for fake “GTA 6 PC download” scams
Every big console exclusive brings fake PC downloads, and GTA 6 will be no different. There is no legitimate GTA 6 PC version right now. Any site, video or Telegram channel offering a “GTA 6 PC download,” “early access key” or “repack” is a scam and could install malware or steal your accounts. Our GTA 6 facts vs fake leaks guide covers more of these.
