Quick answer: with less than a month to go before GTA VI launches on 19 November 2026, the internet is full of “leaks”, fake file sizes and fake downloads. We checked the most-shared claims against what Rockstar and Take-Two have actually said. Short version: the date, platforms, prices, preload date and core story details are confirmed. The file size, a PC version and exact unlock times are not. Several viral numbers are fake, and some “downloads” are malware.
We’ll keep this page updated as Rockstar confirms more.

Not confirmed (treat with caution)
| Claim | Status | What we actually know |
|---|---|---|
| “228GB file size confirmed” | ⚠️ Unverified | Comes from a fan-made site. Rockstar has published no install size, and the PlayStation listing has no storage section. |
| File size around 120–130GB+ | ⚠️ Estimate | A GamesRadar estimate based on comparable games, not an official figure. |
| PC version in early 2027 | ⚠️ Rumour | No PC version has been announced. Rockstar’s past games reached PC months after consoles, but nothing is official. |
| Exact unlock time in India | ⚠️ Not announced | Storefront data suggests midnight unlocks by region, but Rockstar hasn’t published a schedule. |
| Map “five times” GTA V | ⚠️ Conflicts with Rockstar | Some sites repeat this, but Rockstar’s own developer said about twice the size. |
Fake or dangerous
- “676.7GB file size” screenshot: traced to a self-described parody account. Fake.
- “GTA 6 ISO / PC build” (113GB): security researchers found it is malware padded with empty data. Don’t download it.
- “GTA 6 PC download” links and APKs: there is no PC or mobile version. Any download is a scam or malware.
- “Early access keys” and giveaways asking for your login, OTP or payment: scams. No edition gets early access.
- 750GB and 150–200GB “official” tables: no credible source.
How to tell a real GTA VI update from a fake one
- Check the source: Rockstar Newswire, Rockstar’s official social accounts, the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store, or Take-Two’s investor statements.
- Look for a link to the original. Real news cites it. Fakes say “insiders claim”.
- Be suspicious of exact numbers like file sizes or unlock times that no official page shows.
- Never download “GTA 6” files from anywhere except your console’s official store.
