What Nicki Minaj said
According to reports from the rally, Minaj:
- Said it was an honor to be there and told the crowd, “I love him so much.”
- Said she would support Trump again if he ran — although the 22nd Amendment bars a president from being elected to a third term.
- Urged attendees to vote for Republican candidates in the midterms.
- Spoke against gender transition treatment for children.
How Trump responded
Trump introduced her as the “queen of rap” and called her “a very, very special person.” He later posted on X joking about her as a possible press secretary.
How we got here
The rally appearance follows a series of recent moves by Minaj toward Republican politics:
- She served as a judge at the SBA Million Dollar Pitch Competition.
- She appeared in a Fox interview with Lara Trump encouraging young people to vote Republican.
Michigan is one of the most closely watched states in the 2026 midterms, with an open Senate seat and governor’s race, which is why both campaigns are investing heavily in high-profile surrogates there.
Reaction
The appearance split opinion sharply online. Supporters praised Minaj for speaking out and reaching voters who don’t usually follow politics; critics, including some longtime fans, pushed back on her comments and her support for Trump. Both reactions helped push “Nicki Minaj” into the top US searches on 25-26 October.
